Compared to last week, steer calves under 700 lbs. were uneven from 4.00 lower to 4.00 higher except for three weights which were 20.00 higher. Heifer calves under 700 lbs. were 4.00-8.00 higher with spots 12.00 higher. Yearling steers sold 4.00-8.00 higher with yearling heifers not well tested. Demand was very good on a moderate supply. The largest draft of the day was 147 head of 766 lb. steers which sold for 267.75/cwt. The USDA released its Cattle on Feed Report last week and had Inventories slightly higher and both Placements and Marketings 5 percent higher. Fat Cattle slaughter last week was the highest for the year at 631,000 head with demand expected to continue through the New Year.
