Compared to last week, steer calves under 650 lbs. were steady to 4.00 higher, while heavier weight steers were 4.00-8.00 higher. Heifer calves under 700 lbs. were 3.00-8.00 higher with spots 12.00 higher. Heavier weight heifers were not well tested. Demand was very good on a moderate supply. Much cooler weather brought the largest offering, since mid-May, to town. There were several pot load and multi-pot load drafts of yearlings in the offering. The largest draft of the day was 130 head of 819 lb. steers that brought 263.50/cwt. The USDA's Cattle on Feed Report released Friday had Inventories 1 percent higher, Placements 7 percent lower and Marketings 9 percent lower. The Cattle Futures responded by trading higher on Monday and continued the upward trend on Tuesday.
