Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves traded steady to 5.00 higher with spots 10.00 higher. Feeder steers and heifers traded steady to 5.00 higher, in a light test of the market. Demand was good on a moderate supply. Varying amounts of rain across the area last week helped pasture conditions but before the rain fell most of the counties in Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas were classified as level D3 (Extreme Drought) according to the United States Drought Monitor. This make them eligible for the Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP). This program provides direct payments to eligible livestock producers. Contact your local Farm Service Agency to see if you qualify.
