Compared to last week, steer calves traded 2.00-5.00 higher while heifer calves traded uneven from 3.00 lower to 3.00 higher. Yearlings were not well tested. Demand was moderate on a moderate supply. Market activity was moderate as buyers were concerned about transporting their purchases through and into areas under winter storm warnings. The USDA’s semi-annual Cattle Report, released Monday, reported Beef Cow Inventories were down 2 percent from a year ago with Beef Heifers weighting over 500 lbs. down 3 percent. Steers over 500 lbs. and the Calf Crop were down 1 percent.
