Compared to last week, feeder steers traded 3.00-6.00 lower while feeder heifers traded steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was moderate on steers and good on heifers. The supply was moderate with most of the offering in small packages. The USDA's Cattle on Feed report released last week showed Inventories were 2 percent higher, Placements 11 percent higher and Marketings 1 percent lower. Higher than expected Placements drove the cattle futures lower on Monday while the board traded mostly steady to firm on Tuesday.
