Compared to last week, steers and heifers traded with a sharply lower undertone, mostly 10.00 to 15.00 lower. With futures in a free fall after the recent slaughter plant fire, not much confidence could be detected ringside. The market weakened as the day went on, creating some wide price spreads for most weights and classes. with buyers well aware that without a quick turn around, their purchases won't pencil out even at Tuesday's dramatically lower prices. Supply and demand light.
