Compared to last week, steer calves under 700 lbs traded 3.00-6.00 higher with heavier weights steady to 1.00 higher. Yearling steers traded 2.00-4.00 lower. Heifer calves under 600 lbs traded 4.00-8.00 higher with heavier weights steady to 3.00 higher. Too few yearling heifers last week for an adequate comparison, however undertones were steady to firm. Demand was good on a moderate supply. Steers averaged 670 lbs at $ 142.04/cwt while heifers averaged 597 lbs at $ 131.45/cwt. The USDA's Cattle on Feed Report released this past Friday came in with no surprises. The slightly bullish report had Inventories 2 percent higher, Placements 2 percent lower and Marketings 3 percent lower than a year ago.
