Compared to last week, steer calves under 700 lbs traded 4.00-8.00 lower with spots 10.00-12.00 lower. Heavier weight steers traded steady to 3.00 higher. Heifer calves under 650 lbs traded 3.00-5.00 lower with heavier weights steady to 4.00 higher. Demand was moderate on feeder calves and good on green yearlings. The supply was heavy with several multi pot-load drafts including a 431 head offering of 718 lb heifers. Steers averaged 643 lbs with a weighted average price of 135.86 . Heifers averaged 601 lbs with a weighted average price of 127.60. The USDA's Cattle on Feed report, released last week, showed Inventories were 2 percent higher, Placements 3 percent lower and Marketings 1 percent higher than a year ago.
