Compared to last week, steer calves traded 4.00-8.00 lower with heifer calves trading 2.00-4.00 lower. With only 23 percent of the offering weighing over 600 lbs, yearlings calves were not well tested. Demand was good on a moderate supply. Continued triple digit losses on the futures boards are keeping buyers cautious in the cash market. High quality, long time weaned, vaccinated and thin fleshed calves were comparable to last week with other types having difficulty finding a home. This week offering included several single and small drafts of colored-up calves resulting in lower than average quality. The weighted average price this week was 165.38 for steers and 141.65 for heifers.
