Compared to last week, steer calves under 500 lbs traded steady to weak while heavier weights traded 4.00-8.00 higher, with most of the gain on 5 weight steers. Heifer calves traded steady to 3.00 higher with some 5 weights fully 6.00 higher. Yearling steers and heifers traded 1.00-2.00 higher in a light test of the market. Demand was moderate and improved throughout the day. The supply was heavy as producers took advantage of drier conditions. The weighted average for steers this week was 156.77, which was 3.04 higher than last week. The heifer weighted average was 137.80 which was 4.57 higher than a week ago.
