Compared to last week, slaughter cows were 2.00-4.00 higher, while slaughter bulls remained steady. Demand was good on a moderate supply of slaughter animals and a heavy supply of replacement cattle. The top slaughter bull sold for 219.00/cwt, and the highest-priced slaughter cow brought 181.00/cwt. Turning to replacement cattle, the top pair was a black-hided bred cow with a 300+ pound calf, selling for 5,000.00. The top bred cows sold for 3,626.00 per head. An ample supply of hay and lower corn prices have boosted demand across all cattle classes, especially stocker and feeder cows.
