Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were 2.00-4.00 higher. Demand was very good on a moderate supply of slaughter animals and a heavy supply of replacement cattle. The top slaughter bull sold for 205.00/cwt. while the top slaughter cow sold for 166.00/cwt. A large crowd was ringside for the advertised herd sellouts which included 120 head of 4-year-old Red Angus Cows, 37 mostly black heifers due in May, 40 fall calving 4-year-old cows and 13 young Charolais Bulls. The top package of bred cows brought 3425.00/per head while the top pairs brought 4000.00/pair. The Charolais replacement Bulls averaged over 5000.00/head with the top bull bringing 6000.00/head. But the most impressive offering of the day was 100 head of first calf heifer pairs, mostly Angus and Angus Cross with 100-200 lb. calves which sold for 4600.00/pair.
