With feeder heifers selling at record prices, to go to feedlots, it makes it difficult to forgo that income to build herds back. The USDA's Cold Storage Report, released yesterday, reported that the total pounds of beef in freezers were down 6 percent from the previous month and down 2 percent from last year.
