Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the last sale three weeks ago, steers and heifers sold mostly 20.00 to 30.00 higher with 400-550 lb steers trading sharply higher. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 4.00 lower. A really high quality offering to start off 2026 with a long list of reputation consignments working their way through the ring. Buyers were aggressive from the start and did not back down at all throughout the day, knowing numbers will only grow tighter In the coming weeks. At such elevated price levels, the spread did become very wide in spots by the end of the day as buyers filled their orders. Supply heavy, demand very good.
