Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the last sale two weeks ago, steers and heifers sold mostly steady, spots sharply higher on cattle over 600 lbs, instances 12.00 to 15.00 higher. Slaughter cows 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Demand was much more uneven than it has been recently as a wide variety of quality was on offer. Lots of pretty light calves in town this week that we wouldn't normally see for several months, several unweaned which gave buyers pause. Cattle are really showing the effects of short forage and summer heat. Supply moderate.
