Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the last sale two weeks ago, steers and heifers traded very uneven, with some top quality mostly 600-750 lb cattle 3.00 to 6.00 higher, spots 10.00 higher, but some weights and classes steady to 5.00 lower. Slaughter cows 4.00 to 5.00 lower. Besides a handful of consignments of backgrounded cattle or short yearlings, this week's offering included quite a bit of seasonal cleanup type trade with below average quality and plenty of single head lots and very small groups. Excellent demand for the big strings though, particularly the heifers, which rang up some pretty lofty prices. Supply light, demand moderate to good.
