Compared to two weeks ago, steers under 550 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher, heavier weights 5.00 to 10.00 higher, spots as much as 13.00 higher. Heifers traded mostly steady, with some under 550 lbs sharply higher, as much as 9.00 higher than the last sale. Slaughter cows 1.00 to 3.00 higher. Buyers are still aggressively pursuing purchases even given the surge in the corn market and lower trending cattle futures this week. A few more short weaned cattle showed up in the mix, some of the fleshiest seeing discounts. Still a lot of interest in light grazing cattle but the hottest ticket this week was for the top quality 600-720 lb steers, with light 6 wts climbing into mid 170s per cwt. Supply heavy, demand good to very good.
