Compared to last week's light test, steer calves sold 5.00-15.00 higher while heifer calves sold 5.00-10.00 higher and yearling's were too lightly tested for a trend. Several reputation strings of new crop calves were offered which helped push the market higher. Demand was good to very good for a moderate supply as calf and yearling buyers have mostly shook off the lower futures market and uncertainty following the news of some dairy cattle testing positive for the bird flu. Corn planting started near the end of last week in the area but some moisture and cooler weather has halted progress for now. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly 1.00-3.00 lower, 4.00-6.00 lower on some of the higher dressing kind.
