Compared to last week, comparable sales of steers and heifers sold with a mostly steady undertone, firm in spots. There was a wide range of quality, condition and how the cattle were handled and demand followed suite, but was mostly moderate. Demand was good for a high quality consignment of 100 plus home raised calves, then light in spots for plainer cattle. Quite a few calves came to town right off of the cow. Supply was moderate. Slaughter cows sold steady, a lighter test of bulls sold 2.00-4.00 lower following last weeks higher market.
