Compared to last week, comparable sales of steers and heifers sold steady to spots 5.00 higher; plainer kind and un-weaned calves sold with a lower undertone. There was a large variance in quality, condition, and the way cattle had been handled and it reflected in the price. Also, demand was very un-even from good for yearlings and 550-650 lb steers to light for fleshy or un-weaned calves and plainer kind. As the last of the summer grass cattle make their way to town the overall quality hasn't been as attractive. Supply was moderate. Slaughter cows sold 3.00-4.00 lower.
