Compared to the last auction two weeks ago, steer calves under 600 lbs were not well tested, 600-650 lbs steers sold 10.00-12.00 lower, with 650-700 lbs selling mostly 5.00-8.00 lower and steers over 700 lbs sold with a lower undertone on very few comparisons. Feeder heifers weighing 500-700 lbs sold mostly 4.00-7.00 lower, with all other weights not tested. Slaughter cows sold steady on a light test. Supply and demand was moderate. CME cattle futures had a turnaround on Tuesday closing with solid triple-digit gains. The CME rally was a welcome sight despite the sharp deteriorating fed cattle market which is pressuring the feeder cattle market.
