Compared to two weeks ago, the best test on feeder steers weighing mostly 700-750 lbs sold 10.00-15.00 lower with a light test of 5 weight steers and 600-700 lb steers selling with a lower undertone with few comparable sales. Feeder heifers weighing 500-650 lbs sold steady to firm with other weights of heifers not well tested. Demand was light to moderate on steers and good on heifers with supply moderate. Bulk of the feeder heifers weighed 500-650 lbs and sold with much better demand than steers this week. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm on a light test. Live and feeder cattle futures for the second day moved limit lower following a second wave of liquidation selling as October live cattle futures fell below a 100.00 per cwt. This turmoil in the cattle futures following the Tyson Beef Plant fire in Finney County, KS is leaving tensions and anxiety running very high.
