Compared to a more accurate test of the market from two weeks ago, steers and heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher. Demand was good to very good for the yearlings and long weaned calves coming off grass which made up the majority of the offering, best for the cattle weighing over 575 lbs. The quality was attractive on a heavy supply. Some farmers have started corn harvest on a few early planted fields with drying weather in the forecast, but on the flip side the pastures and ponds could sure use a nice shower. An additional 250 head of slaughter cows and bulls sold but were not reported on this week due to the large supply of feeders.
