Compared to last week, steer calves under 550 lbs were lightly tested but sold with a weak to lower undertone, 600-725 lbs traded steady while the steers over 725 lbs traded 5.00-8.00 lower. Heifers calves were lightly tested as well but sold with a lower undertone and the yearling heifers traded steady to 6.00 lower. A nice offering of yearling cattle was brought to town that included several load lots. The quality of the grazing type cattle didn't match up to the last couple weeks as the majority of the old crop calves are gone. The volatility of the markets which has been mostly lower for cattle and higher for grain has taken it's toll and given buyers no choice but to bid cattle lower with input costs rising. Supply and demand were moderate. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 3.00 lower.
