Compared to last week, steers sold steady to 5.00 higher except for the loads of 800-850 lb yearling steers offered trading with a sharply higher undertone. Heifer calves sold steady to 6.00 higher, yearlings sold 5.00-10.00 higher to the best comparison two weeks ago. A run up in the futures market over the last week offered producers an opportunity to market some cattle. Supply was moderate and demand was moderate to good. Six loads of yearlings and several consignments of quality calves were offered with those straight off the cow seeing only saw small discounts to their weaned peers in most cases. Slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 lower, bulls 5.00-6.00 higher.
