Compared to last Wednesday, breaking and boning slaughter cows sold 3.00-5.00 lower with some high-dressing 6.00 lower and lean cows sold 2.00-3.00 lower while slaughter bulls sold 3.00-4.00 lower. The fall gathering of cattle on the western ranges has has begun which is giving a greater supply of slaughter cows than packers need and lowering prices. The supply of bred cows and cow/calf pairs was heavy with a highlight replacement cattle sale held in conjunction with this week's regular cow and bull sale. The supply was a moderate to heavy for slaughter classes and demand light.
