Compared to last Tuesday, feeder steers and heifers under 650 lbs steady to firm, over 650 lbs not tested. Slaughter cows steady to 2.00 lower. Demand good. Supply light. Strong demand for an offering of mostly light cattle despite big losses in cattle futures so far this week. Mostly good quality new crop calves this week with some weaned and several not. Light cattle buyers continue to be focused on buying the good ones from a shrinking feeder cattle population while the fed side is weighed down by economic concerns, ever rising feed costs and larger numbers of market ready cattle on the horizon.
