Reporter comment USDA

As filed

Compared to the last feeder special from two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers under 600 lbs sold sharply higher as the prices for calves played leap frog to catch up with the higher money paid around the circuit on a daily basis since the last test. Weights over 600 lbs were 2.00-8.00 higher on a lighter test. Unlike almost any other ag commodity right now, beef prices seem to have an unlimited up side. Fed cattle are trading for record money, Choice carcasses blew past 300/cwt, and feeders would be at record highs as well if feed costs were not so expensive. Demand was very good and supply light to moderate.
