Compared to the last tested auction from three weeks ago, steer calves under 500 lbs traded steady to firm with steers over 500 lbs 5.00-10.00 lower. Feeder heifers unevenly steady. Some light heifer calves sold with firm prices and a very good demand, while weights over 700 lbs were steady to weak. Several new crop calves trickling into the market this week. Cattle futures have traded sharply lower since the last feeder special and the fat cattle prices have just not appreciated as fast as hoped, at least so far, pressuring the yearling market.
