Compared to the last special two weeks ago, steer calves weighing 500-650 lbs sold steady to 5.00 higher, 650-850 lbs sold 3.00-7.00 higher, with instances 10.00 higher on the 700-750 lb steers. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs sold steady to firm, with 500-600 lbs selling 3.00-5.00 higher, 600-700 lbs 5.00-6.00 higher and 700-750 lbs trading with a sharply higher undertone on few comparisons. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm. Demand was very good for steer and heifer calves under 600 lbs and very good on yearling feeders from 650-800 lbs. CME cattle futures had a strong rally on Wednesday and Thursday with limit moves and expanded limit moves higher giving the feeder market some much needed optimism as buyers were active to buy cattle.
