Compared to last week, steer calves and feeder steers weighing 400-700 lbs all sold with a firm to higher undertone on limited comparisons with the best test on 500-550 lb steer calves trading firm to 5.00 higher, over 800 lbs were scarce. Heifer calves weighing 400-600 lbs sold fully steady to firm with over 600 lbs lightly tested on comparable sales. Demand was good on a moderate offering with a good quality offering of calves and feeders weighing 400-700 lbs all selling on and active market. Last Friday's Cattle on Feed Report once again had record low Placements with September coming in at 88 percent (lowest Placement for the month of September since the series began in 1996) with average estimates at 91.7. Several stick-out sales included 75 steers weighing 715 lbs at 395.00; 32 heifer calves weighing 552 lbs at 392.50 and 88 hd of heifers weighing 562 lbs at 391.25. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm.
