Compared to last week week's much lighter volume, steer calves on comparable sales weighing under 600 lbs sold 10.00-20.00 higher with 600-650 lbs selling with a sharply higher undertone and the pot loads of 885-978 lb steers sold with a firm to higher undertone. Heifer calves weighing under 600 lbs sold 10.00-15.00 higher with weights over 600 lbs trading with a higher undertone. Demand was very good on a heavy offering. The market shook off last week's volatility with the market extremely active on steer and heifer calves as quality was very good on yearlings and calves especially on the low 5 weight steers that were fancy and green sold with very good demand. Several stick out sales included 53 hd of fancy green steers weighing 501 lbs at 440.00 with 62 hd of their bigger brothers weighing 612 lbs at 362.00, 39 steers thin weighing 601 lbs at 381.00 and 120 hd steers weighing 883 lbs at 280.75. Slaughter cows sold 4.00-8.00 higher.
