Compared to last week, several groups and consignments of unweaned and short weaned feeders made it to market this week, with a light test of steer calves weighing under 700 lbs sold mostly in small packages and groups but all sold with a lower undertone, as did the 800-850 lbs steers which were lightly tested, the pot load of steers weighing 915 lbs sold 2.00-3.00 lower than last week's pot loads of similar weight. Feeder heifers weighing under 550 lbs were lightly tested and sold with a lower undertone, 550-600 lb heifers traded mostly 10.00-15.00 lower with last week's very active market with a nice quality offering of 600-650 lb heifers sold steady with last week. Demand was moderate to good with supply light to moderate. The best demand was on the pot load of 821 lb steers selling at 250.50, pot load steers weighing 915 lbs at 236.60 and the 600-650 lb heifers trading at 270.00-278.00. CME Cattle futures all traded with triple digit gains to start the week with Live Cattle up 102 to 176 on the front three months and Feeder Cattle up 237 to 244 on the front three months. Slaughter cows sold 3.00-8.00 lower.
