Compared to last week, steer calves weighing 400-500 lbs sold 5.00-10.00 higher with the most advance on the 400-450 lbs, 500-550 lbs traded 10.00-15.00 higher, spots 18.00 higher on a very active market with 550-600 lbs selling firm to 5.00 higher with several groups of thin fancy blks selling with a sharply higher undertone, 600-650 lbs sold 5.00-10.00 higher and 650-700 lbs sold 3.00-5.00 higher. Yearling steers over 700 lbs including 5 pot loads of 850-925 lb steers all sold with a sharply higher undertone. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs sold firm to 5.00 higher, with 500-600 lbs selling steady to firm, spots 5.00 higher on the 550-600 lb heifers and over 600 lbs were not well tested and did not match up well with last week's part loads and large groups of top quality heifers with good weighing conditions. Demand was very good on a moderate supply with overall quality running very deep especially on steer calves and yearlings with a number of stick out sales from small groups to pot loads. Two pot loads (120 head) 882 lb steers 250.35, pot load 859 lb steers 251.85, pot load 909 lb steers 248.60, part load 629 lb steers 320.00, part load 541 lb steers 361.50 and pot load 96 head 584 lb fancy heifers at 301.25 all selling on a very active market for Monday's offering. Slaughter cows traded steady to firm with instances 3.00-5.00 higher on the high dressing cows.
