Compared to the last sale three weeks ago, steer calves weighing 400-500 lbs sold steady to firm on a light test, with 500-650 lbs steers selling mostly 10.00-18.00 higher, spots 20.00 higher on the 500-550 lb steers, with 650-700 lbs steady to firm, pot loads of 7 weight steers sold 10.00 lower than the pot loads of similar weight three weeks ago, over 800 lbs sold with a higher undertone. Feeder heifers weighing 400-500 lbs sold steady to firm, with 500-600 lbs selling mostly 3.00-10.00 higher and 600-700 lbs traded with a higher undertone with few comparable sales from the last sale. Despite a strong winter storm coming across the Plain states and Midwest the cattle market held up very well with 16 pot loads of top quality yearling steers and heifers weighing mostly 600-985 lbs all selling with good demand, also several part loads and large groups of yearlings and calves all sold on and active market as the first feeder cattle sale of the year got off to a good start with a heavy offering of feeders. Slaughter cows sold steady to 4.00 higher.
