Compared to the last auction two weeks ago, steer calves weighing 400-600 lbs sold firm to 5.00 higher, spots 7.00-8.00 higher on the 500-550 lbs steers, 6 weight steers sold with a sharply higher undertone and several pot loads of 8 weight steers traded with a firm to higher undertone with no recent test. Feeder heifers weighing 400-600 lbs sold firm to 5.00 higher, over 600 lbs were lightly tested but sold with a firm to higher undertone. Slaughter cows sold 3.00-6.00 lower. Monday's offering included lot of good to top quality calves weighing 400-650 lbs and 825-925 lb yearlings all selling on a very active market with good demand. Grain market was fueled by USDA's crop report with December corn closing 11 cents higher and November soybeans closing 76 cents higher as crop report lowered corn acres to 88.6 million acres down from last months 89.8 million acres. Soybean acres were lowered to 87.5 million acres down from 88 million acres. Corn yields were lowered to 172.5 bu/per acre down from 175.4 in August with soybeans at 50.5 bu/per acre down from 51.9.
