Compared to last week, feeder cattle supply was down sharply. Offerings of feeder steers were too light to establish a reliable market trend. On a very limited test, feeder heifers and bulls weighing 400-600 lbs sold $5.00-$10.00 higher. Slaughter cattle also traded on a light test and were $5.00-$10.00 lower. Morning temperatures in the 20s may have contributed to the reduced supply; however, a general shortage of feeders across the region persists, as many producers marketed cattle earlier in the year when prices were higher.
