Compared to last week, cattle receipts were up due to cooler weather conditions and a herd sell-out. The overall tone of the market was steady to stronger, with particularly stronger demand for heifers this week. Feeder heifers 500lb-700lb saw sharply higher prices, trading $15.00 to $25.00 higher than last week. On a light test feeder steers 600lb-700lb traded $10.00-$15.00 higher, while 300lb-500lb steers sold steady. Demand for feeder bulls was lighter, with prices selling unevenly across different weight classes. Slaughter cattle sold steady on a light test, with limited volume restricting broader market trends. There were quality offerings of replacement cattle this week, which sold on strong demand. Buyers showed interest in improving or expanding herds, with competitive bidding noted for well-conditioned lots.
