The first sale of the year featured a strong offering of feeder cattle. Receipts were moderate to heavy and were primarily made up of weaned calves. A good supply of yearlings was present, along with several consignments of lightweight calves carrying desirable condition that sold with very strong demand. Many quality drafts were observed throughout the sale, including a consignment of 19 replacement heifers weighing 641 pounds that sold for $416.00 per cwt. Buyer attendance was good, and demand remained strong from start to finish. Market trends were not established due to the sale not being reported over the previous two weeks.
